Would you feel comfortable wearing that?

I'm not sure that I would feel entirely happy with that.

Snap on GSM adapter stuff

Still fascinated by just how much stuff we used to get in the box back in those days.

What was in the modem box?

Not often that you see a floppy disk in a package.

So George Clooney uses an NX73V in SOLARIS

I was watching this film again the other day and noticed that Mr Clooney uses a Sony NX73V (or at least it looks like one to me) in this scene of SOLARIS. I don't think he actually does anything with it at all. He just looks at it, swivels the screen around a couple of times and puts it away again.

But it does remind me of a few films where PDAs get seen or actually used, so I may feature a few of those over the coming weeks.

DualDate in PHEM

I was sort of surprised to find out that this would run in PHEM (on Android), of course I'm fairly sure that you can't beam in PHEM, but I haven't actually tried so far.

In 1998: Symbol SPT1500 introduced (with integrated bar-code scanner)

I still see these being used in industry all over the place. It's interesting to see just how they've lasted over the years.

ThinkDB: Export to Memo plug in

Another really useful plug in for thinkDB that just allowed you to export out the built in memo app on your device.

In 2001: Samsung SPH-i300 announced (cell phone / Palm)

Another device I know little about, well next to nothing as it goes, but it is an interesting device nonetheless.

ThinkDB: Send email plug in

Well this thinkDB plug in didn't really need to say much more about its purpose. It enabled email in any of your thinkDB applets, which was really handy indeed.

ThinkDB: Start Clipper plug in

Another really useful plug in for thinkDB. Start clipper started the web clipping app that was very handy in the days before we expected all devices to connect to the internet.

ThinkDB: Datebook plug in

I thought I'd give you a little look at some of the ThinkDB plug ins that were available back in the Palm OS days.

The Datebook plug in let you put information into your Palm OS datebook from any ThinkDB applet you used or made. It was pretty amazing actually.

Ever had this screen?

You could only access it via a reset whilst holding down the power button, but it was incredibly useful if you'd got into a fatal reset loop. Of course, you'd erase the machine, but at least it would be usable again.

So what was in the 'bonus pack'?

So I opened it up, and there inside was a brand new CD, with just a few bits and pieces on it. When I've got them loaded to a device I'll post about what they actually are.

In 2003: Samsung introduces SGH-i500 (GSM/GPRS smartphone; OS5.2 PXA262 300MHz processor)

I have to admit to knowing very little about these devices. It interests me that Samsung never really developed their own OS and have a history of licensing other people's.

In 2001: Handspring Edge announced

I did like the Handspring devices, and although I never owned an Edge it was a really interesting step forward especially given how modern devices have got thinner and thinner. Handspring were really ahead of their time. It's such a shame that they didn't survive.

Fossil Watch turns up the BBC coverage of the Apple Watch launch

I love that the BBC coverage of the Apple Watch includes a Fossil Palm OS watch in their interactive section. Nice one Beeb.

It's one that I've never owned, but always wanted to. Maybe one day ...

Back at the Bhajis

The other day I started up my Treo to do some more work on my next Palm OS app, then got completely sidetracked with Bhajis loops. I'd forgotten again just how amazing it was, and also how many unfinished pieces I had on the Treo.

I'd also forgotten some of other features too. So I thought I'd post some of the more amusing parts of Bhajis Loops over the next few days.
