What will 2013 hold for old Palm devices

Let's face it, there isn't too much call for the old Palm OS with iOS and Android about these days. However, it's still a good platform and there's still quite a lot of great apps available if you know where to look.

Here are a few things I want to do with Palm OS in 2013:
  1. Increase the number of apps in my library.
  2. Investigate and experiment with some new ways to use old Palm OS devices, such as with the Arduino and other interesting uses.
  3. Get back to making a few Palm OS apps myself
So I plan to do a bit more with Palmorama in 2013 and we'll see where that gets to. For now, all the best for the new year.

Miskinix, an aborted windowed environment for Palm OS

Miskinix 6 wasn't a replacement operating system for the Palm OS, but it was really just an experiment in creating a windowed environment for the Palm OS. Sadly it never went anywhere, but if you want to play with it, you can. All the files are here.

MCA (Modern Clie Audio)

Sony's original range of PDAs was great if a little underpowered at times. However, one thing that they didn't get right was the audio implementation on some of the devices. The NX73V had these problems which meant it couldn't run applications like Bhajis Loops and Microbe.

But the solution was MCA (Modern Clie Audio). Like many such solutions the developer provided this free to users and I've made a copy of the files just in case anyone wants or needs these in the future.

You can find them here.

Piezo in the library

So, as promised here is the start of a little series exploring what's in the palm OS library. To start with Piezo. It's an odd little music maker app that's in some ways quite ahead of its time. You can find it here in the library.

If you're in need of old Palm App Files ...

Then look here. I am slowly expanding my repository of ancient and lost Palm Applications. My library can be found here, but check back as I intend to add more on a semi-regular basis!

The lost app, tDrum ... I wish I'd finished it

I really wish I'd finished it, but it really is too far gone now. I should find a way to start of this stuff again and do some new apps ...

3 years since the iziBasic and ViziBasic site was updated

It's a real shame as these little Palm OS apps were great. In fact, they still are great, but the chance of them being taken forward is, to say the least, minimal.

I can at least say that I managed to develop a few things with them and they were loads of fun to play with, and of course, they are still available and the site is still there.

Find them at Aldweb.
