2007 and all that

Well, 2007 is nearly over. It has been an odd year in mobile computing with half starts and promises a lot of the time.

We expected the much hyped Foleo, then it was rapidly cancelled. Although we were told it wasn't a laptop, it looked a lot like one to me.

The Palm told us they were going to launch a new OS based on linux with the first devices coming in late 2007. This has gone back too now.

Google has promised to bring its own open source mobile OS to the market. Who knows what that will bring?

So 2008 has lots to look forward to, or so it seems.

Perhaps a new OS from Palm? Maybe Google's Android? New devices from Palm and not just more smart phones? The Apple iPhone SDK and the possibility of native applications?

PicselPowered down?

PicselPowered site is down for development. I wonder what will come out of this. Proviewer is a good application, but I don't think you can run a site with just one product however good it is.

Maybe they'll bring something new in 2008?

Palmorama has been since quite quiet this year, but next year I plan to do a lot more on Palmorama, more reviews, more news and lots of other stuff too.

I think 2008 will be a very interesting year in mobile computing. Apple will release the iPhone / iPod Touch SDK and we'll have to wait and see what innovations developers come up with.

Palm will hopefully release the new linux based OS at last, and maybe some new devices. Perhaps they'll return to the innovative organisation they once were.

Google's Android will debut, who knows what it will bring?

So, lots to look forward to next year.
