Mac Nano?

There have been lots of recent rumours about a mac sub-notebook, and yesterday Apple posted a job for a Mobile Architecture Manager creating lots of speculation around the possibility of sub/micro notebooks or even the resurrection of the long lamented Newton.

Mac rumours are fun. I have to say I like them and read them daily, but the serious issue here is around the possibility of Mac entering a market that is ripe for innovation. That is after all what they're good at.

I have to say that I find the idea of a Mac Nano or MacBook mini fantastic. It would of course depend on what it was capable of. However, if the iPhone running OSX is anything to go by it should cause a stir and polarise people's opinion. But is this just desktop technology taking over the handheld space? Perhaps.

Maybe it is time to redefine handheld uses. If desktop power is available and usable in very small devices, what is there left for PDAs to do?

I don't have the answers, but the questions are worth asking I think.
