Move from Screens, encouraging if difficult to understand.

Screens Environment: Interfaces
I enjoy reading this stuff about screens. The last few posts gave me more hope of an alpha being released soon. This post is technical again, and I struggle to follow it. Never mind, as long as it is moving forward.

Mac Nano?
There have been lots of recent rumours about a mac sub-notebook, and yesterday Apple posted a job for a Mobile Architecture Manager creating lots of speculation around the possibility of sub/micro notebooks or even the resurrection of the long lamented Newton.
Mac rumours are fun. I have to say I like them and read them daily, but the serious issue here is around the possibility of Mac entering a market that is ripe for innovation. That is after all what they're good at.
I have to say that I find the idea of a Mac Nano or MacBook mini fantastic. It would of course depend on what it was capable of. However, if the iPhone running OSX is anything to go by it should cause a stir and polarise people's opinion. But is this just desktop technology taking over the handheld space? Perhaps.
Maybe it is time to redefine handheld uses. If desktop power is available and usable in very small devices, what is there left for PDAs to do?
I don't have the answers, but the questions are worth asking I think.

Do you really need a PDA?
I love this article from Mike Rohde at Rohdesign. I find the whole thing very inspiring indeed. Do we really need all this computational power sitting in the palm of our hands? Does it really help you out and make you more production?
I'm not sure I could completely do without my PDA(s) I think I'd find that a hard thing to do.

Safire begins
More news from the Screens Environment camp. Things are really moving forward now. It is all looking to be quite exciting what with Screens / Safire coming along, and Saguaro as well. Is there still hope for Palm devices?
