I've been using NinerPaint for ages. It is currently up to version 1.8. As an art application I think it ranks in the top ten if not higher.

Why is it such a good application then?

Put simply, so far I haven't found anything that I need to do that it can't handle. This might seem simplistic, and it is. However, you have to understand that I think applications should exceed what a user will want so that the user can grow into using them. I think NinerPaint is very good at that.

When I first used it I found myself playing for ages making images for no good reason whatsoever, and it has kept me enthralled ever since.

It is really worth a try, and, as with all good applications it is being actively developed and maintained.
